What is left.

This is a view of our table at the conclusion of the Quest. In fairness to Jayson, he ate as much as Brian and John. Posted by Hello

No one finishes!

We are all done. Notice that not one of us ate the whole thing. We tried though and made money to fight ALS in the process. Posted by Hello

Jayson ready to eat!

So is Jayson. By the way, he tried to eat the 6 pounder. Maybe he thought it would get him more glory. It didn't Posted by Hello

Denny's Sign

Since we could not copy any files to the library computer, I had to wait until I got home to do it. So, here is Denny's sign. A little old and not very flashy. Posted by Hello

The Culmination of the Quest

We are sitting in the public library making the last post before we go to Denny's. The public library is the only place we could get internet access. Actually, we tried to scam wireless access from the Holiday Inn Express...unsucessfully. John tried to purchase the access from the old lady at the desk, but we were not guests, so shut him down rather quickly.
John had already called ahead to Denny regarding our dining arrangement. Denny will prepare the burgers in a 3 step method with love and tenderness. In a future post we will bring you behind the scenes of Denny's Beer Barrel Pub's 3 stage cooking process.
We are getting rather hungry, so we are off to EAT THE ULTIMATE BURGER!!!

End Transmission

Running on Fumes

OK, we are in Clearfield and it is just after 2:00 AM. We made it on fumes and not on the fumes Brian produces. The navigation system on the Passat says we have 0 miles until we need a fill-up. I have never pushed the car this far and I am glad Volkswagen's engineering was up to the challenge. If you have never been to this area of Pennsylvania, the exits are spaced out by 10 miles, so, with 5 miles left on the trip computer we decided to make it another 9 miles to the next exit. In our defense it did not look like there was a gas station at this exit, we were just hoping there would be one at the next. Brian made the call and he would be walking to the gas station if we did not make it. It had been raining too. We made it so no one had to hoof it. In case you are wondering it 400 miles from White Lake, MI to Clearfield, PA.

Back on the Road Again

After an awesome meal that included wings, fries and chocolate cheese cake (Mayor McCheez had the Key Lime pie), we are back on the road. It is about 9:50 PM so we should arrive at our destination, Clearfield, at 2:00 AM.

Our Last Dinner

It is 9:00 Pm and we are stopping for dinner. This will be our final meal before we tackle the Ulimate Burger, so it is out last chance to stretch our stomaches. We decided to eat wings to get the protein our bodies so desperately need. It is what our eating coach suggested.

They're Off

With the weeks of planning and fund raising behind us, we are finally ready to start Operation Q.U.B. and if you check back in at this site, you will be able to stick with us along the way. It is 6:45pm and we are off. Where will we check in next? That is anyone’s guess.

A little more than 24 hours now.

It’s Friday and you know what that means! You guessed it, Operation Q.U.B. starts today. We will be leaving around 6pm today for Clearfield, PA to finally take a shot at eating the Ultimate Burger. What adventure will find us along the way? Will anyone be able to conquer the burger? The answers to those questions and many others will be answered exclusively here, so check back often as we update our progress toward our final stop, Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub.

Only 4 Days left...

The team is now complete! Brian, Jayson and I will set out on Operation Q.U.B. on Friday after work. Today I spoke to Denny Jr. from Denny's Beer Barrel Pub and he is making final preparations on his end. He will have our Ultimate Burgers and a table ready for us on Saturday. If all goes well, we should be going for the record at lunch time on Saturday. There is still time to donate to our quest, so don't think it is too late.

We have a plan of attack!!

Our route to the Ultimate Burger! Posted by Hello

Template Change

As you can see, we had to change our template. We were having issues adding comments in a user friendly way and I was spending too much time playing with the code. So, in the interest of time, we just changed the template. Now, you the reader has the ability to comment on each and every post. By the way, if anyone wants to redesign the theme of this blog to better represent the quest, let us know.

Just a quick update

Yesterday was another big step in our quest for the ultimate burger. I spoke to Joanne Berry from ALS of Michigan and she is sending us donation sheets and info to get our fundraiser going. Oh yeah, that brings me to my next update. You can donate to ALS and the Quest online by clicking here. Your donation is for the Quest for the Ultimate Burger, but we are using the Walk to D’Feet ALS® cause to raise money. In case that is confusing, bottom line, your donation goes towards funding ALS research and helping the current patient list. This is a good cause because ALS is a terrible disease which there is no cure for. The disease claimed my grandmother 9 years ago and Jayson’s brother Doug was just diagnosed a few months ago. Please help us to find a cure.

This bus is just getting rolling!

Those of you that have been involved in this road trip from the beginning know that we only wanted to do this for a little fun. Well, that fun has turned into a cause. You see, as friends and co-workers heard about our little trip, more and more people wanted to hop on the bus and join us. Then a funny thing happened, Natalie suggested that we do the whole thing to raise money for a charity. I fired off an email to MayorMcCheez and it was settled, we were up to the challenge to raise money to fight ALS. Well, a few phone calls later, it looks like Denny’s Barrel Pub loves the idea and in fact, they have done something like this before. They never had a group of people road trip across the country to participate though. Check back as details are announced.
